It is not about being perfect every day but about showing up regularly and putting in the effort you know you should be taking for a better life and more positive outcomes. Many of us may struggle with consistency if we rely solely on motivation. Why? Because motivation may come and go. But when we work on staying disciplined, patient, and responsible with structured habits and daily tasks, consistency comes naturally bringing in more joy and rewards.

Today, with multiple distractions, information overload and increased responsibilities, staying consistent can be difficult. However, by understanding what consistency truly means and implementing the right strategies, you can build lasting habits and achieve your goals more effectively.

Here are some Practical Tips to Improve Consistency

 1.Develop Self-Awareness

Before improving consistency, you need to understand yourself. Self-awareness means knowing your strengths, weaknesses, and the triggers that cause distractions. Ask yourself:

-What makes me lose focus?

-When do I feel most productive?

-What habits have I failed to maintain in the past, and why?

By understanding your personal patterns, you can create an environment and routine that supports consistency. For example, if you notice that you are more productive in the morning, schedule your most important tasks early in the day. If social media distracts you, uninstall apps that consume your time and cause distractions while working.

2. Be mindful of the Information you feed yourself

We live in an age where unlimited knowledge is available at our fingertips. However, consuming too much information without applying it leads to confusion and inaction. Instead of constantly searching for new techniques, focus on implementing what you already know.

You can apply this by-:

-Sticking to 1-2 trusted sources of information.

-Taking regular action on priorities before seeking more knowledge.

-Focusing on mastering a few skills rather than trying to learn everything at once.

Remember, Applying even 10% of what you learn is better than consuming endless information without action.

 3.Practice Discipline

Discipline means doing what needs to be done, even when you don’t feel like it. To build discipline:

-Set small, non-negotiable daily targets.

-Set timelines for important tasks.

-Create a routine that aligns with your energy levels.

By committing to daily progress, you train your mind to stay disciplined regardless of how you feel.

4.Get Rid of Addictions and Distractions

Distractions are the biggest threat to consistency. Social media, excessive screen time, and unnecessary browsing consume hours of valuable time. Identify what steals your time the most and actively reduce or eliminate it.

Tips to minimize distractions by:

-Setting specific times to check social media and emails.

Keeping your phone away in another room while working or doing something important.

If distractions are unavoidable, set dedicated time slots for important tasks when you are least likely to be disturbed.

 5. Form Realistic Schedules

Many people fail to stay consistent because they set unachievable goals. Your schedule should align with your natural energy levels and work capacity.

Instead of planning 12 to 14-hours workdays, start with something more realistic like 4-5 hours of focused work. If you are building a new habit, begin small. For example, if you want to exercise daily, start with 20 minutes rather than an hour. This prevents burnout and ensures long-term consistency.

6. Learn to Reset After a Break

Missing a day or two in your routine doesn’t mean failure. Things happen and sometimes it’s okay fall short or take breaks. The key however is to restart as soon as possible without guilt.

To make recovery easier:

-Set a rule to never miss two days in a row.

-Resume your habit slowly perhaps even at a reduced intensity to ensure you give yourself time to get back on track.

-Keep reminding yourself that progress is more important than perfection.

-Even if you follow through with 50-60% of your schedule, it’s still progress. So encourage and appreciate yourself as much as you can.

7. Focus on Efforts, Not Just Results

Many people get discouraged when they don’t see immediate results and give up too soon. However, success is built on consistent effort rather than instant results.

For example, if you are working on fitness, instead of obsessing over weight loss, track how consistently you complete your workouts. If you are starting a business, measure the number of meaningful actions you take rather than expecting overnight success. Success will always happen at the right time if you work on your mindset and keep your energy positive.

8. Schedule Breaks to Prevent Burnout

Taking breaks is essential for maintaining long-term consistency. Overworking yourself may lead to burnout, making it harder to stay on track.

To balance work and rest:

-Plan short breaks between work sessions.

-Have at least one ‘reset day’ every week where you engage in an activity that gives you joy and positivity.

Remember, Consistency doesn’t mean working non-stop. Scheduled breaks and mindful breaks help maintain momentum and prevent exhaustion.

 9. Link Habits to Daily Activities

One of the easiest ways to stay consistent is by linking new habits to activities you already do. This method, known as habit anchoring, makes it easier to remember and execute new routines.

Examples of habit anchoring:

-Practice affirmations while brushing your teeth.

-Stretch while waiting for car/cab .

-Meditate once you come to bed at night.

By connecting habits to existing routines, you make consistency more easy and effortless.

Staying Consistent is a Journey, a process that requires self-discipline, smart habit-building, and a flexible mindset. You don’t have to be perfect every day—what matters is that you keep going. Even on hard days, when things perhaps are not going your way, it is important to show up regularly, reset when needed, and trust the process. Consistency is not about speed, it’s about persistence. Success doesn’t necessarily come from one big effort but from small, repeated actions over time.

By following these simple and practical strategies, you can build long-term habits and achieve success in any area of your life. Start small, stay patient, and trust in your ability to keep going. No matter how difficult the journey gets, remember: consistency will always take you closer to your goals, that too with less Struggle and more Joy!

Healthy Ways to Disagree in a Marriage https://drkarishmaahuja.com/healthy-ways-to-disagree-in-a-marriage/ https://drkarishmaahuja.com/healthy-ways-to-disagree-in-a-marriage/#respond Wed, 26 Feb 2025 10:10:07 +0000 https://drkarishmaahuja.com/?p=18439 Marriage is a beautiful bond between two individuals, but no two people are the same. Disagreements are natural in any relationship, and in marriage, they can arise over simple daily matters or major life decisions. The way couples handle these disagreements determines the health of their relationship. Learning to express differences with respect and love can strengthen the bond rather than weaken it.

A lot us believe that disagreements mean a relationship is weak, but the truth is that healthy disagreements can actually help couples grow together. The key is not avoiding conflicts but handling them in a way that leads to understanding and deeper connection.

Here are some practical ways to disagree in a healthy manner, ensuring peace, love, and harmony in your marriage.

1. Pause Before Reacting

When a disagreement arises, pause for a bit and start taking a few deep breaths before you respond to what is being said. Inhale slowly through your nose, hold for a few seconds, and exhale gently through your mouth. Repeat this 3–5 times. Notice how you are feeling without judgment. This helps you understand and process your emotions better. Once calm, speak with love and clarity rather than anger and frustration. This mindful pause and breathing allows you to organize your thoughts and to avoid saying something hurtful in the heat of the moment. Reacting impulsively can make the situation worse, leading to unnecessary arguments.

2. Use “I feel” Statements Instead of “You always” Statements

Using “I feel” statements instead of “You always or You never” statements helps in expressing your feelings without blaming or accusing your partner. When disagreements arise, saying “I feel” instead of “You always” makes communication more respectful and less defensive. This approach allows both partners to share their emotions openly, leading to better understanding and a healthier conversation. Instead of saying, “You never listen to me,” try saying, “I feel unheard when we discuss important things.” Using “I” statements helps in expressing your feelings without making the other person feel blamed or attacked.

3. Listen to Understand, Not to Reply

Are you listening to understand or do you often have a tendency to simply get restless to share your view and opinion? When you don’t actively listen, misunderstandings increase, and small issues can turn into bigger conflicts. Your partner may feel unheard, leading to frustration and emotional distancing. Instead of solving the problem, the conversation may turn into blame and arguments. Truly listening with patience helps build trust and connection in the relationship. Active listening is about focusing completely on what your spouse is saying without interrupting or mentally forming a counter-argument.

Listening with love and patience is a form of healing. So the next time your partner wants to share something, listen! And make sure your partner feels safe, valued and heard rather than guilty, unworthy and unvalued

4. Be tolerant

Not all disagreements need a resolution where one person wins. Sometimes, it’s okay to accept that both partners have different perspectives. Respecting each other’s opinions without forcing a change is a sign of maturity in a relationship. Accepting that your partner can have a different point of view than yours is a sign of understanding and respect for your partner. It means you acknowledge your partner’s perspective even if you don’t share the same view. Instead of trying to win an argument every single time, focus on understanding and finding common ground. This helps maintain harmony and keeps disagreements from turning into conflicts.

5. Practice Forgiveness

Holding onto resentment over small disagreements builds negative energy in a relationship.

Learning to forgive, even when no apology has been given, helps to maintain peace. Forgiveness, is an excellent tool to release anger and resentment.

it is for your own peace, not just for the other person. The more you let go, the more present you become to your partner’s needs and the more peaceful and positive your home environment begins to feel.

To release any grudges or anger you are holding for your partner, try this every night before you sleep. Think of your partner mentally and say few times, “I forgive you for everything, may both of us live our lives in peace, harmony, respect and lots of joy.”

6. Choose the Right Time to Discuss Serious Matters

If a disagreement arises when one partner is stressed, tired, or busy, it’s better to postpone the conversation. Timing plays a crucial role in having a productive discussion. Choose a time when both of you are calm and free from distractions. If your partner is tired or distracted, the discussion may lead to frustration rather than resolution. Instead, observe their mood and pick a time when both of you are calm and can focus on the issue.

7. Use a Calm Tone

How something is said matters more than what is being said. Keep your voice at a softer level, avoiding loud outbursts. Raising your voice can trigger defensive reactions, while a calm and composed tone keeps the conversation peaceful. If emotions are running high, take a short break and return to the discussion later. When you speak, ensure you don’t use words that hurt or cause disrespect. Make your point slowly and peacefully. This allows you to maintain a good vibration while also inviting a more positive response from your partner.

8. Look for a Solution Together

Instead of trying to “win” an argument, focus on finding a solution that works for both of you. Compromise doesn’t mean losing; it means creating a balance that makes both partners feel valued.

When we practice love and respect, solutions naturally arise. Manifesting harmony starts with setting the right intentions.

Use positive Affirmations daily to energize your intentions and raise your vibration.

My partner and I are growing in love each day

I am grateful for a loving and supportive partner

I am creating an amazing future with my partner

I feel truly blessed to be married to a loving, kind and understanding partner

10. Be Grateful

It’s easy to focus on the negative things happening around you, but when you practice gratitude, you start to notice and even invite more of the good and pleasant  things into your life. When you express gratitude for your partner, you will generate positive energy that will you attract more cooperative and supportive behaviour from your partner. Appreciate your partner. Saying a simple “thank you for listening” or “am glad to have you” is a great way to maintain love and positivity in your relationship

Finally please remember, Disagreements in a marriage are normal, but they don’t have to be destructive or personal. When handled with love, patience, and understanding, they can lead to stronger connections and deeper trust. Practicing mindfulness, open communication, and forgiveness will allow you and your partner to grow together, creating a harmonious and fulfilling environment in your home. Your relationship is more important than winning an argument. Approach every disagreement with the intention of finding a solution that is best for the both of you and you will see the beauty in your differences rather than feel the bitterness in your conflicts.

4 Ways to Increase your Chances of Success https://drkarishmaahuja.com/4-ways-to-increase-your-chances-of-success/ https://drkarishmaahuja.com/4-ways-to-increase-your-chances-of-success/#respond Sat, 02 Sep 2023 11:51:14 +0000 https://drkarishmaahuja.com/?p=14614 Whether you are striving for career growth, harmony in relationships, improvement in your health or mastering some specific skills, success in any area of your life is not about luck or chance but definite principles and strategies which serve as a comprehensive guide for taking you towards your desired outcome.

Let’s take a look at some of these powerful strategies that will provide a roadmap to you for enhancing your chances of success. They will empower you to achieve your goals and also help you enjoy your journey (your present circumstances) leaving you happy and fulfilled.

1. Set Clear Goals:

You must have a clear vision in your mind about where you want to go and what you want to accomplish. Can you imagine leaving your home, not knowing where to go, but expecting that the driver of your vehicle will take you to some place that makes you happy? Sounds silly isn’t it. But that’s what we are doing. We are not defining clearly what we want and expecting the universe to deliver us something we like – something which is good, happy and pleasant. If you want to get somewhere, TAKE CHARGE YOURSELF and give clear instructions to your subconscious mind by holding on to the right vision and pictures in your mind.

Identifying your desired goals and then writing them down clearly helps signal your mind and brain to provide you a direction and foundation for them to manifest in your life. Once written, read your goals daily. Engaging with your goals in this manner helps plant these desirable ideas into your subconscious mind. To make this exercise even more effective, as you read each goal, ask yourself how life will change for the better when it becomes a reality in your life. Take your time to answer this question. Let your imagination take you to that desired state and reality as if what you wish for is already a fact. This simple mental process keeps you excited, passionate and enthusiastic to work towards your goals daily.

2. Take Action daily:

In order to reach your desired destination faster, you got to stay disciplined and focused. Make a list of daily tasks and action steps that you will be required to take you towards your goals. Commit to enhance your skills and keep improving yourself in areas that can positively contribute to your success. Remember, Success is a system that involves small steps taken daily for continuous improvement. It is the progressive realization of your goal or dream. This attitude that your goals are meant to help you improve and transform will allow you to achieve mastery in whatever area you are working.

It’s also important to not be stuck with only one way of doing things. Do away with the “my way or highway” attitude. BE FLEXIBLE and open to learning. Experiment with different approaches if your current method or plan is not working. Learn from your failures and mistakes. This flexible and adaptive mentality helps you discover what works best for you, allowing continuous growth and progress.

3. Stay Determined:

Successful people have always been people who kept their vision and goal in their mind no matter how many difficulties they faced. Troubles don’t stop the ones who are passionate and serious for change. If you really want to change your life, you got to be steadfast and determined. Once you have identified what you want, hold on to it, come what may.

Determination and discipline are integral keys to success. Whenever you feel stuck in life, simply remind yourself to keep on keeping on- on the path to your dreams. Something that can tremendously help in this regard is POSITIVE SELF TALK. Engage in positive self talk daily. As you repeat positive words that encourage you to not give up, you will soon find ways and solutions to your problems. You will be able to manage difficult situations with wisdom and clarity. Positive words and affirmations will keep you inspired and help you maintain a more balanced state of mind. Keep walking towards your goal and one day you will have exactly what you wanted.

Some examples of Positive affirmatios for Success-

I deserve all the success I desire

I am capable and worthy to achieve my dreams

The Universe loves and supports me in every possible way

I manifest my goals with ease and joy

Every moment in my life is a gift

Every day in every way, I am getting better and better

4. Work on overcoming negative emotions:

While you are focusing on your goals and putting in your time, energy and efforts to produce the outcomes you desire, remember to not ignore your core feelings and emotions. We attract everything into our lives through the Vibration we are in. Staying true to your self and connecting with your own needs is the key to staying balanced, healthy and peaceful – all of which are important to maintain a good vibration.

We are all aware today about how stress can negatively impact our outcomes, blocking our energy and ability to seize the opportunities that come our way. To deal with stress and negative memories and feelings, SIT IN SILENCE for few minutes daily. Identify the thoughts and emotions running in your body. Take slow deep breaths reminding yourself to release whatever is not good for you. Get ready to release anything that is not serving your purpose to be happy and successful- whether it’s a negative feeling held towards self or others. It deserves to go so you can bring the good things you desire in your own life. This is a great way to cleanse your mind and heart and discourage yourself from holding on to any negativity.

Say Goodbye to these 4 Habits for Peace and Success https://drkarishmaahuja.com/say-goodbye-to-these-4-habits-for-peace-and-success/ https://drkarishmaahuja.com/say-goodbye-to-these-4-habits-for-peace-and-success/#respond Thu, 24 Aug 2023 08:12:30 +0000 https://drkarishmaahuja.com/?p=14365 What is a Person’s most cherished possession? Is it position, money, relationships or health? Undoubtedly, they are all important in life but what actually impacts each of them and thus becomes our most valuable possession is PEACE – true inner Peace!

You may have everything in life but if you are not peaceful from within, you will never enjoy happiness and satisfaction in life. You will feel weak, tired and lost.

Here are some healthy goodbyes that will help you move closer towards experiencing peace, freedom and success in life:

1. Worry and Anxiety.

One of the biggest blockages to experiencing genuine inner peace is worry and anxiety. Our mind is constantly engaged in anticipating challenges and problems. We have a tendency to think of what may go wrong and thus feel anxious and fearful. We could be spending sleepless nights tossing and turning with our mind all over the place, thereby affecting our productivity and mental calmness. To overcome this problem, try to gain a deeper understanding about the mind and energy laws. When you understand how you attract things into your life, you will feel more confident about taking charge of your life situations.

Try to keep your mind focused on the outcomes you desire to experience. The subconscious mind may keep dragging you to the past but you can bring yourself back to the present moment by sitting in silence and allowing the feelings to release by themselves by simply reminding yourself, you don’t need to hold on to the anxiety and worry. Instead you would like to experience peace harmony success and happiness. Feel the energy and vibration in your body change as you remind yourself what you would like to feel and have. As you think these thoughts, your subconscious mind will get busy to create new pictures about the life you desire. Rest of the day, if fear and anxiousness trouble you, take few deep breaths and speak aloud with belief that you will face what you have to face with courage and achieve all the good and happiness you desire in your life.

Another healthy approach to overcoming worry is taking it one day at a time. This approach focuses on taking life step by step without getting overwhelmed by future uncertainties. Set your targets daily and try to do the best that you can in the day. This will help you focus on your tasks and feel less stressed about things.

2. Negative Self-talk.

Be careful of what you are thinking and speaking to yourself as your subconscious mind and body are listening. What they hear is what they deliver to you. Thus a habit we need to say goodbye to is negative self-talk. Replace self criticism, anger and guilt with self-compassion, kindness and love. Notice when you are being hard on yourself and challenge those thoughts at that very moment itself. This will take mindfulness and practice. But the more you do it, the more it begins to become a healthy habit that will disallow the negative thoughts from getting more intense. Treat yourself with kindness and understanding, just as you would treat a friend.

Especially observe your thoughts as you wake up in the morning. These thoughts set the course for how you spend your day and also how you wish to be treated by others. The key lies in accepting your faults and mistakes gracefully and carrying true repentance for the wrong that you may have done knowingly or unknowingly.  Getting out of bed and simply blaming or hating yourself is not going to make things better. You got to forgive yourself and replace negative thoughts with positive ones. For example, you can repeat to yourself daily “I forgive and bless myself, I bless everyone in my life, may all be happy and healthy”. Such positive self talk will allow you to make necessary changes to improve your life and also help you to spread more joy in the lives of others around you.

3. Comparisons with Others.

Most people compare themselves to others to measure their own growth and success. Everyone wants to be seen as the best, the most beautiful and successful person out there. But in the process, we lose our peace and happiness as we feel unhappy and dissatisfied on not being good enough or successful enough in comparison to others. Comparison can often lead to jealousy and ill feelings like anger and hatred.  Such feelings drain our energy and weaken our ability to think and work to the best of our capabilities.

Remember that everyone’s journey is unique. Focus on your own progress and growth without measuring yourself against others. Ensure that you are doing your best and spending your time, money and energy wisely. Keep your goal in mind as you set your priorities and schedule your tasks for the day. Most importantly, celebrate your achievements regardless of how they compare to other people. For, there will always be someone who perhaps has something that you don’t. But that is no reason to be unhappy. Understand the power that you hold to make your dreams a reality. This realization that no one can stop you from fulfilling your dreams and that you have all that it takes will help you achieve great results in your life. Afterall, you deserve to!

4. Excessive attachment to outcomes.

Over attachment to outcomes is a common psychological bottleneck that can significantly impact our ability to experience genuine peace, growth and happiness in life. What does excessive attachment refer to? It refers to becoming too fixated on specific results or holding expectations such that they overpower your reason to work on your goals or desires altogether, leading to emotional distress and a lack of enjoyment. While having goals is important, it is also necessary to enjoy the present, be grateful for your journey and cherish the steps that will lead you towards your goal.  It is important to hold on to your vision but at the same time also to be open to different paths, outcomes and ways. This reduces anxiety and disappointment if things don’t go exactly as planned. Sometimes they will not, because for all you know, there’s a shorter and easier way that the universe wants you to take.

Instead of being inflexible, setting rigid expectations and being too stuck on how exactly things should work out, let go of the how and focus more on the end result you want. Allow yourself to feel what it would be like to live your dreams. Train yourself to be open to learning and growing along the way to your destination.  Set positive intentions and continue to take inspired actions toward your goals and targets. The attitude that you are always learning and growing will allow you to keep improving and making progress, leaving you happy and fulfilled. Not only will you achieve more, you will also keep yourself peaceful and balanced as you gain more and more experience in dealing with day to day challenges.

5 day Positivity Challenge https://drkarishmaahuja.com/5-day-positivity-challenge/ https://drkarishmaahuja.com/5-day-positivity-challenge/#respond Wed, 02 Aug 2023 08:29:20 +0000 https://drkarishmaahuja.com/?p=14292 The Mind is a very powerful system that controls our internal and external environment. Our circumstances and outcomes don’t just show up. We create them with our dominant attitude and state of mind. Our state of mind comes from our thoughts, words, feelings, behaviour, actions and character.

When we sow thoughts, we reap actions

When we sow actions, we reap habits

When we sow habits, we reap character

When we sow character, we reap our destiny.

So if we want to change our destiny, where and what do we get started with? Answer is clear- Our mind and our thoughts. We got to find a way to redirect negative thoughts and beliefs. To create a happy, healthy, and abundant life, we got to find a way to deal with negative influences and limiting thought patterns daily. Instead of trying to ignore or resist negative thoughts, it will be much easier to make an active choice of building more positive ideas and feelings.

Positivity is like a muscle, if you keep exercising it, it becomes a habit and a way of life.  Here is a 5 days challenge to help you develop a positive state of mind and attitude.

Day 1 Challenge – Focus on what you Want.

Because of their mental attitude and programming, most people usually think about the things they don’t want. They don’t want to be lonely, they don’t want to be in debt, they don’t want to be criticized or have health issues. But complaining and thinking about these very things that bother them keep them stuck to these unwanted results. Rather than focusing on lack, cultivate the state of mind you would have if you had everything you wanted.

Exercise: Write down all the things you want. Describe clearly want to want to be, have and experience in your life. As you put down a clear description of the life you desire, you trigger many positive emotions within you. This is because the moment you entertain an idea or thought and start focusing on it, your subconscious mind starts to build images around it. Anytime a negative thought comes in the day, open your diary and write down what you want to experience in place of it.

Within few days of practice itself you will see how much more happier and positive your thoughts have become.

Day 2 Challenge – Strive to make your day beautiful.

If you want your day to go well, why not assume responsibility to make it the most beautiful day of your life! Morning is the best time to take action in this regard.

Exercise: Start your morning on a high note by keeping a smile on your face and ask yourself “How can I make today the best day of my life?”  Spend few moments repeating this question and then sit in silence and just observe the thoughts coming to your mind. It’s a simple question, but it’s so powerful that it can literally shift your vibration and take you from the lack mentality to the abundance mentality.

By simply asking this question, you remind yourself that you are in control of how your day goes and not anyone else. You also become conscious of how you are feeling. This gives you an opportunity to take charge and do something to feel better. This simple practice is a great tool to encourage your subconscious mind to engage in thoughts of all the things you can yourself do to make it as amazing as possible!

Repeat this question several times in the day. Answers may not necessarily come immediately. They may come to you anytime in the day. The best part is all through your day, your subconscious mind will look to answer this question by bringing you ideas and thoughts of what you can do to make your day truly fun, happy and successful.

Day 3 Challenge – Appreciate what you have.

Spending time dwelling on our problems only accomplishes one thing- it creates more problems. Why? Because what you think about, you bring about through your vibration. Thinking about something keeps you in the same energy and vibration as it. So imagine when you spend time thinking about all the things you are grateful for, you will get more things to be thankful for.

Exercise: Start your day with this thought that you have a lot to be thankful for. Take time to feel the appreciation you have for the people and things you have been blessed with. Think of why you are so grateful for them. This will create within you sense of peace. Your mind will shift to a calmer and more positive state.

To hold on to this energy of gratitude, whenever you see or experience something good, immediately appreciate it by using the words, “ I am so grateful for this.” Continuing this throughout your day will make it easier and more beneficial to deal with and solve the negative issues in your life.

Day 4 Challenge – Practice Self love.

Life may not always be easy but it can still be joyful. And what can really bring joy into your heart, spirit and life is “Self love”. Self love can allow you to go through whatever you are going through without blame, guilt, or regrets. It’s human to fall, make mistakes, get hurt and even knowingly or unknowingly hurt others along the way. It’s natural to be upset for a while but to keep judging and condemning yourself for not being the perfect being you think you should be will only create more wrong and unhappiness on the way. To be able to correct or improve anything in life, it is important to treat yourself with love, acceptance and compassion. With self love, you will feel less stressed when going through difficult times and situations. You will also become a more optimistic thinker and pursue your dreams with more confidence.

Exercise: Look into a Mirror into your own eyes. Take a few deep breaths. Observe the thoughts that come to your mind. Then hug yourself and slowly, repeat the words, “I deserve love and respect, I forgive myself wholeheartedly, I accept myself for who I am, I am a loving and peaceful child of the Universe.” Repeat this practice each time you come in front of the mirror in the day. Ensure you do this atleast twice a day, once in the morning and second time at night before you go to bed. You can also write the words, “I love and accept myself wholeheartedly” on a piece of paper, carry it with you in your pocket or stick it on your desk or bed side.

Day 5 Challenge – Repeat this Positivity Mantra

A mantra that can help you practice living in a positive state of mind and vibration is- “This is good for me.” Now this may sound easy to practice but the real deal is you got to say this whenever anything happens in the day, whether you consider it good or bad.

Exercise: There’s a lot of power in seeing the good in everything. Yet is true that sometimes it can be tough to see the good in things. Here is something that can help. Before you respond to anything that has happened, practice pausing and saying, “This is good for me,” You will not only be able to find something good in that moment or situation but you will also stop yourself from seeing yourself as a victim or poor being who is not in control of his or her life.

Practice is the Key

Positivity is a mindset which develops gradually. Get started with your journey with this 5 days positivity challenge and you are sure to continue with this happy and satisfying journey for life.

This day 5 challenge is about understanding that in every situation, between the situation and the way we respond to it, there’s a space. If we start training our mind to use that space to think of something good, automatically more positive outcomes and results will come into our lives.

Read and re-read the practices mentioned above to understand them thoroughly. Once you complete your 5 days challenge, incorporate all the practices in one single day. Within 3 months you are sure to experience a big positive shift in your attitude and results.

Get rid of Mobile Phone addiction https://drkarishmaahuja.com/get-rid-of-mobile-phone-addiction/ https://drkarishmaahuja.com/get-rid-of-mobile-phone-addiction/#respond Thu, 06 Jul 2023 13:26:39 +0000 https://drkarishmaahuja.com/?p=14254 Our Smartphones today are filled with so many different features that it can be hard not to get addicted to them. We can access a whole world of information at the press of a button. At times it can be very fruitful, making life easier with easy access to some really useful information such as reading this blog post. Other times it can be not so healthy, such as spending hours on end, scrolling through social media and other online platforms.

When we use our mobile phones, our brain produces a chemical called dopamine due to which we feel good. Now to feel good more and more, we use our phone again and again. As a result, chances are we get addicted to our mobiles and do not realize how we are spending time mindlessly on the smalls screen.

Excessive use of mobile phones is unhealthy for our physical and mental wellbeing. Lack of sleep, poor concentration, memory loss, obesity, lethargy, loneliness, mental dullness, unhappiness are some of the negative effects being observed today among children, youth and adults who indulge in excessive use of their phones. There is no denying that the use of mobiles comes with a lot of advantages and thus we cannot eliminate its usage completely. However, there is also no doubt that we got to keep its usage to minimal.

Here are some ideas you can use to control your phone usage and addiction.

1. Turn off Notifications.

Many people get distracted by the endless notifications they receive from WhatsApp messages and other social media apps. You don’t need to know right away if someone likes your status update, follows you on Instagram or sends you a forward. The more often you check your phone, the more it becomes a deep rooted habit and addiction. Suddenly you realise that you are tempted to open a message or a video someone shared. One message and video leads you to another and before you know it, you have lost some precious time that could have been used to refresh, relax, recharge or even complete something important.

The best way to reduce distractions is to turn off notifications.  The only apps perhaps you may want to receive notifications from might be your SMS app, calendar and some specific groups that might be related to your work. This way you will feel less compelled to check your phone all the time.

2. Practice Mindful breathing to overcome temptations.

You may be trying very hard to focus on something important when suddenly you find yourself checking your phone and scrolling through your WhatsApp and Instagram notifications. Your mind wants you to derive more pleasure out of it and so it makes you procrastinate by continuing to keep you hooked on to your phone. If this is happening often enough that you are losing your productivity, you got to do something about it.

Next time you find yourself procrastinating or being hooked on to your phone,  close your eyes and take a deep breath. Inhale slowly counting 1to 7 and exhale slowly counting 1 to 7. You can also take your awareness to your thoughts, emotions, and just how your body is feeling in general. Connect with your feelings and affirm statements such as “I am calm”, “I am in control”, “I am relaxed”, “I choose healthy habits,” “I spend my time very efficiently.”

By doing this mindfulness practice, you will find yourself more in control of your behaviour. You will be able to cut down your screen time and habit of mindless scrolling especially when you have something important to accomplish. This is a simple but powerful technique that will eventually help you break your smartphone addiction and bring your attention back to the present moment.

3. Delete social media apps on your phone.

This may sound nearly impossible as it may appear like a drastic step but it isn’t. You will still be able to access social media sites through your phone’s Internet browser. YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter have mobile-friendly websites. They are good enough to satisfy your occasional social media craving. Going to apps is easy but the extra step of opening your Internet browser and typing in the site’s URL adds a bit inconvenience to the process. This will prevent you from checking your social media updates all the time. The same is the case with game apps. Delete them and instead visit their websites if you have to. This will reduce your addiction and you will become a much more productive, healthier and happier person.

To start with, today choose one social media app that you can do without. Delete it from your mobile. Choose one activity that you can give time to instead of it. For example, instead of being on twitter, may be you can buy a puzzle book for yourself and sharpen your brain by solving some puzzles. After few days, delete another social media app and include another fun activity to your day. You will feel good and you will also encourage yourself to minimise your screen time.

4. Use an Alarm clock (not your Mobile) to wake up

These days almost everyone uses their phone as an alarm clock to wake up in the morning. The problem lies in the fact that when keep your mobile phone so close to you, chances are you will be tempted to use it more and more. Infact, some people take their mobiles first thing in the morning as they switch off their alarm and start checking their messages and emails.

Possible that even before you completely wake up, you have been hooked on to your phone and that’s not something very healthy. Any activity you involve yourself in first thing in morning will get more deeply rooted into your subconscious mind and turn into a habit. To counter this problem, Use an actual alarm clock. It will help you to wake up with more mindfulness where you will have the precious first few minutes of waking up to recharge, rejuvenate and energize yourself with activities like silent sitting, visualization, repeating positive affirmations etc- activities that will immensely help you to cleanse your mind and balance your energy for wellbeing and success.

5. Wear a Watch

How many of us are guilty of constantly checking the time on our mobiles? Probably quite a few. We glance at our phone to see what time it is. As we do this, chances are we get a pop up from a website we visited and open a shopping advertisement flashing on our screen. We start going through these notifications one by one and before you know it, 15 minutes have passed. In reality all you wanted to do was take a second to check the time but you ended up wasting 15 minutes of your time.

A simple way to prevent this time waste is to wear a watch and practice checking time on it rather than your phone.

6. Keep your Phone away for few hours

If you are trying to eat healthier, a common piece of advice you might hear is to avoid keeping junk food in the house. The idea is that unhealthy eating, a choice you might otherwise make without thinking, should require effort. If unhealthy food is kept before you, it will keep tempting you. The same idea applies to phone addictions. When we have our phone in our pockets, purses, next to our bedside or somewhere it is easily accessible, it’s all too easy to pick it up even when not absolutely necessary. We as human beings tend to do more of the things if they are easy and generally avoid things if they require more effort. By keeping your phone in another room or somewhere you don’t see it for some time, you will have a tendency to be less hooked to it.

Practice this especially once you are done with your work for the day. That way you won’t feel like you are missing out on some important stuff if your mobile is not close to you. You will get more time for your family and also for your mental peace and relaxation.

7. Identify limiting thoughts and emotions that need to be addressed.

There’s some research today that points out that people compulsively use their phones to avoid certain issues in their lives. Through excessive use of mobiles, what they are trying to do is to divert their minds or stop themselves from thinking about their problems or tensions.

Sit with yourself in silence and note down any issues that you are currently experiencing. Identify things make you so stressed and anxious that you want to avoid them. May be being addicted to your phone is your subconscious way of handling the pressure. Resolving the issue could help you release yourself from the urge to be on your phone all the time. You could also seek some help to resolve your emotional issues. Talk to a friend, family member or therapist. Read some good books. Watch inspirational videos. Recharge yourself by feeding positive thoughts to yourself daily. This will help you overcome anxiety and you will find yourself more alert and active to do the things that add value to your life rather than being controlled by your urges and temptations.

How to Overcome Fear of Rejection https://drkarishmaahuja.com/how-to-overcome-fear-of-rejection/ https://drkarishmaahuja.com/how-to-overcome-fear-of-rejection/#respond Mon, 19 Jun 2023 07:47:17 +0000 https://drkarishmaahuja.com/?p=14229 No matter who you are or what you do, you may have faced the fear of rejection at some point to one degree or another in your life. You might fear not getting the promotion you need, the job you really want, the deal that you have put your heart into, a relationship proposal you made or even speaking in public. Rejection is the feeling of being left out, not being accepted, or simply not being good enough. Although it is something we feel emotionally but it can be as painful as physical pain for the helplessness it triggers within.

We are social beings. We have a desire to build connections and feel like we belong and matter. Sometimes rejection can hit so hard that it can shake up our inner confidence and self worth. If we don’t deal with it, we will keep carrying this energy of being unloved and unaccepted and sometimes, we may feel rejected and low even if someone didn’t have any intention of pulling us down. We  become bitter, overly sensitive and defensive simply because we think everyone is against us and that we are not worth it.

Some amount of anxiousness is natural but when your fear of rejection prevents you from progressing in your career, building new relationships, or having good self-esteem, then it’s a sign you need to learn how to overcome this fear.

Here are 3 tips to help you overcome your fear of rejection and live your life to its fullest:

1. Reject Negative Self-talk

It’s easy to get stuck into a pattern of self-criticism and self pity after experiencing rejection. You may get thoughts like, “I knew I would be rejected”, “I always make a fool of myself”, “I am so dumb”, “I am unlucky.” etc

But these thoughts will only further reinforce your belief that the rejection was your fault or that of your destiny. You will keep yourself in the failure mode. Even in future you will attract rejections because you believe you are not good enough, smart enough or ever capable of making it big. In such cases, Positive thinking can help improve your perspective. When you consciously engage in empowering thoughts and ideas, you feel more hopeful and confident. You start to believe in your own potential to achieve your goals.

2. Reflect on Rejections calmly

It may not seem like it right away, but rejection can actually provide opportunities for you to grow and discover more about yourself. Say you apply for a job, you work very hard for it and even have a great interview, but you don’t get the job. This might frustrate you at first. But if you think about it calmly, you may realize you could do certain things better like brush up on some skills, learn how to use a new type of software, rewrite your resume, learn to speak more confidently and so on.

This attitude of always looking at what more could be done rather than grumbling or feeling bad about what happened is what makes the difference between success and failure. You will infact not lose hope and instead encourage yourself to apply more confidently the next time. This is important as a lot of us in fear of rejection sit back in fear and avoid taking action out of disappointment and low self-esteem. With this “open to learn” approach, you will see that many new doors and opportunities are opening up for you, which are even bigger and better than the previous ones you got rejected for.

3. Deal with your Insecurities

How you feel about yourself contributes to your fear of rejection. If you hold feelings like shame, guilt, unworthiness or self-doubt, you are more likely to fear not being accepted. These feelings gets so deep rooted in your vibration that they dictate your action., behavior and performance. A low vibration always= Negative result. How to deal with these feelings?

Firstly identify if you are reacting from your insecurities. A quick way to know is to check for some obvious signs in your behavior-  avoiding eye contact, feeling anxious, getting very defensive, difficulty expressing your views or communicating openly, not feeling equal to others in a conversation, trying to be like someone else instead of yourself and so on.

Secondly, if you do realize you hold these insecurities, then try to look within and spend some time with your own self in silence daily to connect with yourself better. If you don’t spend time with yourself or love yourself, how can you expect others to accept and love you?

Boost your confidence further by

  1. Recognizing what are your strengths, what are you good at.
  2. Surrounding yourself with positive people and messages.
  3. Learning how to say no especially if it’s something that does not resonate with you.
  4. Being kind to yourself by Forgiving yourself.
  5. Taking good care of yourself.
  6. Engaging in positive self-talk daily.
  7. Practicing Gratitude daily for your life, body, skills, talents and gifts.

Remember, every thought has the potential to become a reality but not all thoughts turn into reality. Only those thoughts that you think and believe with conviction ultimately Manifest themselves into your life. Does not matter if what you believe is true or false. It will at once start to take form in your life.

If you believe you deserve good things and take action when guided, you will achieve great success in your life. Your fears will never stop you from living your best life!

Cheers
Dr Karishma Ahuja

These 4 things stop your Growth and Success https://drkarishmaahuja.com/these-4-things-stop-your-growth-and-success/ https://drkarishmaahuja.com/these-4-things-stop-your-growth-and-success/#respond Sat, 10 Jun 2023 06:27:40 +0000 https://drkarishmaahuja.com/?p=14208 Success requires a healthy mindset. Most of the times we experience delays and rejections because we are not quite ready to give up old ways of thinking and doing things. We don’t work on improving ourselves. While cultivating the healthy success habits is important, it is also equally necessary to work on eliminating unhealthy thoughts, patterns and activities that often block our success.

Achieving what you want is absolutely possible and this does not depend on what you want. It always depends on how you approach what you want, with what thoughts and vibration. For maintaining a good vibration, we will need to take it one day at a time. Afterall, success is the progressive realization of a worthy idea or goal. And this progressive realization requires the right thinking and mindset to be adopted on  a daily basis.

Let’s look at some common thinking patterns that need to be eliminated immediately-

1. Being Unhappy

Many people have big dreams that they want to achieve but while they pursue their goals, they stay unhappy and frustrated with their current circumstances. Remember, things may not be as desired at this point in time in your life. You may be dissatisfied, wanting to change things for yourself and rightly so. But you should still be happy and grateful at all times for what you have received so far. Unhappiness makes you restless and unappreciative of the good things around you. If you do not change this attitude, you will never be happy even when you achieve your goals.

For example, you may want to attract a better job with a higher salary but while you look out for new opportunities, if you hate your current job, all the time criticising and complaining about it, then you are going on the wrong track. This is because wherever you go, even to a new, bigger and better company, don’t forget you will carry your mind and attitude with you there. And if you are used to hating something, you will attract more situations and people around you to hate and feel unhappy about. You will miss good opportunities and be drawn to unpleasant situations.

So what’s the key- Be grateful for what you already have and no matter how little that is, remind yourself others may still have much less than you.

2. Viewing failures as losses

We often hold a wrong notion of what failure is and that itself blocks our success. If you fear failure, it makes you reluctant to even try to do things simply because of the risk of not succeeding. Because it can be risky to do something you may not have done earlier, people become very conscious and overwhelmed with the fear of failure. They end up staying where they are and never see their dreams coming true.

The truth is, failure is not a loss, it is actually a lesson. It’s an inevitable step on your way to success – a step you will most likely need to take to learn and grow. Failure is proof that you are trying, that you are doing something to get what you want, and that you are not giving up. Failure gives you the lessons and experiences you need to become stronger, and have more willpower and focus. If you reflect on failure in a positive way, it will guide you on the right path because failure shows you what exactly not to do next time so you can do something better and bigger going forward.

3. Making Excuses

We all our probably guilty of making excuses at some point. Problem arises when we use them all the time and behave as victims unable to take charge of our own lives.

Which one of the below are you using as an excuse?

It’s not the right time

I am very unlucky

I am not good enough

I am too old or too young to do this

I don’t have enough knowledge or experience

They (People) don’t want me to succeed

I do not have enough support to make it big

It will take too long

I am not smart enough

People will laugh at me

When you find yourself thinking these thoughts that stop you from moving forward, stop and reflect on why you are thinking them. Realize that most of these negative thoughts come to you from your past and they may not be true at all. Our mind is tricking us into staying in our comfort zone to do the same old activities and tasks on autopilot. It discourages us from trying anything new. It feels safe in going the familiar way. That’s why it’s making up all these excuses and preventing us from progressing. But just because we were told something or we saw something in the past, it does not mean it is going to be so for the rest of our lives. Remind yourself, “the past is gone, today is a new day, what you think repeatedly, you will attract.” So why not think about what you want?

Make up your mind to not let these excuses stop you. Stay positive and live with confidence and courage.

4. Being Unwilling to Forgive

Believe it or not, most of the times it is unwillingness to forgive that makes it so difficult to move on and live in the present. If you don’t live in the present, you won’t be able take right action at the right time for, you will lack clarity, will and ability to do so. Unforgiveness weakens your body. It keeps you stuck to the unpleasant things that happened. A mind filled with grudges lacks power to think, plan, execute and achieve.

Forgiveness is as important as food and water that sustains your body. It is the ultimate preventive medicine as well as the greatest healer in the world. Whatever goals you wish to achieve, you can only focus on them positively, in a good vibration with forgiveness and love in your heart. And it can all start with being willing to forgive with all your heart. To put forgiveness into practice, daily think of 3 people you wish to forgive, including yourself. Repeat, “I am willing to forgive myself and others, I only keep love in my heart for myself and others.”

In conclusion, keep this thought with you…

You don’t get what you want, you get what you think you deserve. And what you think you deserve comes from the feelings you hold for yourself and others. So improve your mindset, feel good and you will certainly achieve big success in life.

How to beat Monday Morning blues https://drkarishmaahuja.com/how-to-beat-monday-morning-blues/ https://drkarishmaahuja.com/how-to-beat-monday-morning-blues/#respond Fri, 02 Jun 2023 08:23:56 +0000 https://drkarishmaahuja.com/?p=14185 Does the start of the new week post the weekend trigger overwhelming feelings of anxiety, sadness, or stress within you? Do you lack passion and motivation on a Monday morning? Do you find yourself feeling lazy or tensed as Monday approaches?

If you have said yes to the above, then you might have a case of what we call Monday Blues. What this actually means that you may be experiencing some negative emotions that many people get at the beginning of the week when they think of going to work.  You could be experiencing feelings of tiredness, laziness, dullness and a sense that work is unpleasant but unavoidable.

We may laugh it off saying, “Oh this is natural, it happens with every one.” Agree it could happen occasionally but if it’s happening every week, then it should not be taken so lightly. If you were happy and all would be well, you would be excited and energized on Mondays, not tired and disinterested.

It should be no surprise that a case of the Mondays blues can have a negative impact on our performance and productivity as well as on our over all wellbeing. It is thus important to find ways to cope with it.

Let’s see how –

1. Identify the real problem

Ask yourself what is the real problem. If you have Monday Blues most weeks, then this is not something you should laugh off or just live with. It’s a significant sign that something is not right –you could be unhappy at work or under a lot of pressure to perform. It could be a negative co-worker or your interactions with your boss first thing on Monday morning that makes you want to avoid work. Maybe the problem is that you don’t feel very excited or challenged about the work you do.

One by one, make a list of the reasons for your Monday blues. Sit in silence and try to figure out what you can do about it. May be you can join a course to upgrade your skills, you could seek another co-workers help for a certain assignment, you could have an open chat with your boss on an issue that generally bothers you or spend some time on personal growth to build up more positivity inside you by reading a good book or listening to some inspirational talks. Clarifying what is bothering you and then reflecting on the possible solutions can help you to actually find effective ways to cope with your problem. It will be a great way to empower yourself and to take charge to improve the situation.

2. Prepare for Monday on Friday

If you have any difficult or unpleasant tasks that need to be addressed, don’t procrastinate or delay them. As far as possible get them done on Friday before you leave from work for the day. If you leave those tasks for Monday you may feel like there’s a big burden on your head and as a result, you will be stressed or pressured thinking of work all through your weekend. If possible, on Friday itself, resolve that pending issue, make that uncomfortable phone call, keep your calendar up to date, keep your files ready, prepare for the meeting beforehand, organize yourself and your desk well as do what you can to go confident to work on Monday. You will feel a lot better on Monday morning if you start doing this.

For tasks that you cannot complete beforehand, try to atleast do your best to prepare well for them beforehand so that mentally you are not stressed or anxious about them.

3. Make a list of the things you appreciate

We generally have a tendency to focus on what’s not right or lacking in our lives. It is generally the same with our job or work. We often look at the week ahead of us and think of all the tough tasks and challenges lying ahead of us and that can make us feel very burdened, dull and low. Why not turn it around. Every Sunday, make a list of 3 things that you appreciate about your work or job. It could also be things that you are looking forward to that week. This simple exercise will put you in a more positive mood. Most importantly, it will break the chain of negative thoughts and reset your mind to experience more positive feelings.

However, If you are one of them who thinks that you cannot come up with any good things about your work no matter how hard you try, then remember when you sincerely look for something, you will inevitably find it if you persist at it. Besides there’s always something to be grateful for. Here’s a sure way you will find it- Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths and ask yourself what you are grateful for about your job and work. Sit in silence and wait for answers. Most certainly they will come. And you will feel much better than before. You will be more open and positive to wake up to a Monday morning with a smile.

4. Look to dress your best on Monday morning

We generally look forward to outings and feel good dressing up well for an occasion. Choosing your favorite outfit and taking some extra effort to look your best adds a feel-good factor to your personality and attitude. Why not adopt the same strategy to overcome your Monday blues. Choose on Sunday evening your outfit for Monday. Select one of your favourites, something that you love, something that makes you feel confident and good about yourself. Believe it or not, you will look forward to Mondays if you start doing this. When you look good, you feel good. Feeling good about yourself is half of the battle won on Monday mornings. Rather than the pressure or unhappiness of work dominating your mind, your confidence and cheerfulness will fill your aura and add spark to your spirit.

Ofcourse dressing well alone will not be enough. It is as important to consciously choose to smile as you dress up and show up to work. This way you will feel good from within and also share your spirit, charisma and positivity with others. In return you too will receive positivity and friendly vibes from others.

How to Stay Positive around Negative people https://drkarishmaahuja.com/how-to-stay-positive-around-negative-people/ https://drkarishmaahuja.com/how-to-stay-positive-around-negative-people/#respond Wed, 24 May 2023 10:54:13 +0000 https://drkarishmaahuja.com/?p=14159 Many of us may have people in our lives who we term as negative because of their outlook and approach towards life and things. We may also feel that their energy brings us down and lowers our own spirit. Worse, you may have also observed that their attitude and moods are influencing you too and affecting your peace of mind. Negativity breeds more negativity. You could even take on some of the same negative qualities you resent in a person if you do not take charge of your energy and find a way to deal with such people.

Here are some helpful tips-

1. Keep your Power with you:

Don’t allow a negative person to dictate your emotions because that gives them much power to pull you down. Understand this that you are responsible for your mood and feelings—don’t let anyone else make you feel bad.  The moment you get upset, reflect on how you are feeling, then remind yourself that you always have a choice to agree to or not accept someone’s point of view and opinions.

Here’s an easy way to mindfully decide whether you should accept the thought or reject the feeling someone is giving you. Ask yourself the following questions –Is this helping me improve or pulling me down? Is it taking me closer to my dreams and goals or not? Is it coming from their experience or their prejudice? Is it motivating me or blocking me with doubt and fear? When you ask yourself these questions, you automatically protect yourself from mindlessly absorbing the person’s energy and vibe. Besides such an exercise also creates within you empathy and compassion for the person holding such negative views rather than expressing anger or frustration for not being able to do anything about their behaviour or actions.

2. Fix your own Negativity:

The World is a reflection of your thoughts and feelings. If you find yourself constantly surrounded by negative people and behaviour, remind yourself it’s time to fix your own negativity lying within you. Nothing can show up in your life unless you have invited it vibrationally. Our subconscious mind is a storehouse of memories. It continues to replay the memories of the past on the screen of our minds and lives. These memories begin to fill up our vibration and dictate our feelings and actions. If we do not consciously try to shift our thoughts, we will keep attracting people and circumstances that match the energy of the thoughts currently going within us. So instead of complaining about other people and their negativity, start to clean up your own mind by feeding yourself good thoughts and ideas.

Write down daily how you want your day and life to be. Write it in the present tense so you can already start feeling the positive difference with their energy. For example,

it’s a very good world

People are very kind and helpful

I spend my day peacefully and joyfully

I attract positive people at all times

Everyone appreciates and respects me

I think positive thoughts

People around me are always happy and cheerful

I achieve success in everything I do.

If you start engaging with these thoughts daily, instead of being pulled into someone’s negativity you will lift others to your level of positivity and optimism.

3. Maintain Distance:

It may not always be possible to completely cut off from people who are negative and have the wrong attitude. Sometimes however for your own peace and health, it may be necessary. Follow your inner guidance in such cases. While you are away, use that time to build up some positivity and confidence within you. Don’t think simply being away from that environment will change your own energy and solve all your problems. You will still have to do the work of cleaning up your own mind.

At times, when It’s a relative, friend or colleague you must endure, distance yourself emotionally while remaining cordial. If you have to engage with this person, bless the person mentally to ensure no negativity or discomfort overwhelms you. Be pleasant while keeping a safe distance between you and them. Remember, you don’t need to be impolite or rude but you should be unapologetic about choosing your company. It’s your right to choose people you want to be with. So go ahead and take the right decisions that soothe your soul and inspire your spirit.

4. Talk it out if it’s someone close to you:

If it’s a loved one who has become increasingly negative, It may be helpful to choose a good time to have a one to one chat with them. Speak lovingly and kindly while you let them know how their behavior and comments affect you. Use words like, “I want you to know that I care for you and our relationship and so I am speaking to you about it, We may not realize it but when we always talk about how everything’s going wrong, we make others around us feel pessimistic and low too, when we keep complaining, we keep attracting more things to complain about, that’s the law of energy – what we put out in thoughts and words, comes right back at us, Can you and I from today consciously try to focus on good things, can we speak more about what’s going well, this is important for our health and wellbeing, can we?”

Let the other person feel your warmth and concern as you speak these words. If you notice in the words we speak above, we are not pointing fingers at the other person and trying to make the person feel bad. Instead we are saying, it’s a collective responsibility and we will do this together. This allows the other person’s subconscious mind to respond positively to your request. Of-course it will require patience but with sincere efforts you will see positive changes in them as well as in yourself.

5. Look for the Positives in others:

Even in people who you perceive as negative, there is always something positive you will find. Try to find something good in them especially when your mind is busy blaming, criticizing and resenting them or their behavior. Everyone, no matter who they are, have something that can be appreciated. Maybe they complain a lot, maybe they speak harshly and insensitively, but they may also be doing something better than you and that could be something worthy of appreciation. Here it’s not about identifying some good in them and simply trying to gain their approval and complimenting them to maintain harmony in the relationship. Sure if you feel like go ahead and appreciate them verbally. However what we are talking about here is mentally identifying good qualities in a person and shifting your focus about the person from negative to positive. A great way to do that is list down in your diary daily one good quality you appreciate in this negative person.

If you continue this practice daily for next 3 months, you will be amazed to see how their negativity doesn’t affect you anymore. Infact some people after this exercise start to actually see positive changes in the other person. This is the power of our thoughts. What we focus on grows stronger in our life.

From today, focus on good things and you will certainly attract more happy situations and pleasant outcomes in your life.

How Gratitude can Change your life and results https://drkarishmaahuja.com/how-gratitude-can-change-your-life-and-results/ https://drkarishmaahuja.com/how-gratitude-can-change-your-life-and-results/#respond Wed, 17 May 2023 06:06:29 +0000 https://drkarishmaahuja.com/?p=14145 Over the years, you may have heard many business leaders, entrepreneurs and spiritual teachers speak on the importance and power of Gratitude. More recently, however, scientists have also been studying and concluding the positive effects of Gratitude in several areas of an individual’s life.

Positive effects of Gratitude

In the year 2018, The Greater Good Science Centre published a paper called “The Science of Gratitude” that outlined the following benefits of having a gratitude practice –

Increased happiness

Positive mood

Sense of Wellbeing

More satisfaction in work and relationships

Less fatigue

Better physical health

Better quality sleep

Greater courage and confidence

Development of patience, humility, and wisdom.

This study also showed that people who practice gratitude likely have better social skills and problem solving abilities.

Daily Practice of Gratitude

In of the recent studies on Gratitude, A research group assigned participants into three groups to study the effects of Gratitude:

Group One did a daily writing exercise on gratitude including writing thank you notes and appreciation letters to other people.

Group Two practiced gratitude occasionally.

Group Three didn’t practice Gratitude at all.

At the end of the study, the researchers analyzed their findings and determined that gratitude does 3 things:

1. Few minutes of gratitude practice can lift our mood and relieve our sadness.

2. Gratitude disconnects us from negative emotions. Writing daily what we are grateful for especially helps “shift our attention” from negative to positive things.

3. Expressing gratitude helps us even if we don’t explicitly share it with someone. We are happier and more satisfied with life if we adopt the attitude of gratitude because we simply learn to appreciate life more.

4. The positive effects of gratitude keep increasing daily Just like our muscles that get stronger when exercised regularly. This means the more you continue with your Gratitude practice, the more you begin to experience deeper desirable changes in your life.

Harness the Power of Gratitude with these powerful Rituals

Gratitude can be equally helpful for all generations – children, youth, adults and elders. Regardless of who you are or what the current circumstances you are surrounded with, your life can be better, it deserves to be better and Gratitude can immensely help you in making it so!

These rituals can empower you to dive deeper into the spirit and energy of Gratitude-

1. Develop a consistent gratitude practice where you not only write what you are grateful for, but you also feel it. Here’s how to do it- Start each sentence with, “ I am so grateful for___________because__________________.

For example, “I am so grateful for my parents because of the love, support, trust and encouragement they have showered on me over the years.”

When you write down and express the reasons why you are grateful, you start to go into the depths of gratitude and it won’t simply be a mechanical exercise which really does nothing to bring about any powerful changes within you.

2. Look into the mirror each morning and appreciate who you are. Look at yourself with love. Express gratitude to the universe for your body, beauty, strength, abilities and the numerous gifts you have been blessed with. Give yourself a hug and say, “ I am so grateful for myself and my life.” This is important because often we so lack in the department of valuing, accepting, and appreciating our own selves that we start looking for love and acceptance from others. Gratitude can help you fill your own cup of self love which will help you attract more love and joy into your life.

3. Develop a Gratitude mindset. This can be done by slowing down, pausing, reflecting and enjoying all that you are experiencing. You can do this by bringing mindfulness to whatever you are doing. Take a few deep breaths every couple of hours in the day. Then smile and say, For this ________(whatever it is that you are doing), I am grateful. With practice, this mindfulness practice will change your perspective and outlook in life. You will notice early signs of stress and cope with it more easily and powerfully.

In conclusion, doing these rituals will change your dominant vibration, which will automatically start changing the results you are getting – whether it is health, finances or relationships that you want to improve. But remember Consistency and Discipline will be keys to go into the depths of gratitude and bring positive changes faster than you can imagine. So why delay? Test for yourself, the Power and Magic of Gratitude. You will be glad you did!

How to Cheer up in a Minute https://drkarishmaahuja.com/how-to-cheer-up-in-a-minute/ https://drkarishmaahuja.com/how-to-cheer-up-in-a-minute/#respond Sat, 06 May 2023 08:40:54 +0000 https://drkarishmaahuja.com/?p=14125 Sometimes things don’t go our way and we may find ourselves feeling low, stressed or disheartened. But what we need to understand is that not feeling good and continuing to feel bad or low does not solve our problems. Infact negative feelings only block our ability to think and take appropriate action. It is important to take charge of our feelings and consciously try to feel better so that we stay in charge of what is happening and don’t cause any further damage to the situation.

Use any of the below techniques to quickly find your way out of a bad mood. All they will take is a minute, but the results will stay with you all through your day and even life especially when you remember to do them consistently. Ready? Let’s go….

1. Start Clapping: You might have clapped your hands several times in the past in appreciation, on hearing a good news or when cheering for and congratulating someone. but after reading some of its benefits mentioned below, you are sure to make it a habit!

Our body is a miraculous system comprising of a multitude of functioning parts coming together for us to live healthy lives. The palms in particular contain specific nerve and blood vessels which when stimulated through the action of clapping help in refreshing the mind and relaxing the body. Whenever you are feeling low or anxious, join your palms together and start clapping for a minute. It will instantly work as a powerful mental and physical stimulant, and activate the energy various centers in your body, leaving you feeling much better within few seconds. Even during the times of worship, devotional and group bhajan singing are usually accompanied by people clapping their hands together. Do you know why? It is thought to create a positive environment uplifting one’s energy and vibration. So from today, we don’t have to think much, let’s just clap our way to happiness and peace.

2. Go on a Gratitude Spree: Gratitude is an appreciation or positive recall for what one has experienced or received, whether tangible or intangible. With gratitude, we activate the happy memories button in our minds. In the process of doling so, we actually start to recognize that the source of all happiness and goodness lies within our own minds and hearts.

Being grateful helps us connect to the Higher Self or Universal energy within us. This connection is especially helpful when one is feeling sad or lost as it helps us regain our passion and spirit for life. In positive psychology research studies too, gratitude is strongly associated with greater happiness and health. There is no doubt and you can verify this with your own practice that, Gratitude helps us feel more positive, lifting our mood and improving the quality of our thoughts.

Here’s a great way to practice gratitude to cheer yourself up quickly. Take a minute to write down all the memorable moments you have experienced and the wonderful gifts and blessings you have received in your life so far. Start each sentence with, “ I am so grateful for ………….” By the time a minute ends, you will have a smile on your face and you will feel much better than before.

3. Shift your thoughts with Positive words: The power of just a few seconds to a minute of repeating positive affirmations should not be underestimated. After all words are energy. They can quickly shift your thoughts and lift your mood. Because Words carry creative power. Every word has a picture that the brain begins to form as you speak it.

Positive affirmations are a proven technique to improve your mood, reduce stress, and boost your confidence. The trick is that your subconscious tends to believe what you repeatedly tell it. This is why people with a negative outlook tend to end up affirming their negative thoughts so often as the truth of their life that it finally brings their greatest fears to life. Thankfully, the reverse is also true, and positive affirmations can be used to break free from the negative cycle of past disappointments and negative associations. They can help convince your deeper mind (Subconscious mind) that the positive things you tell yourself really are true.

Here’s how to use positive words whenever you are feeling low. Whatever has hurt or disappointed you, counter it by creating statements that are opposite to the negative thoughts running in your mind. Create positive affirmations that will uplift and inspire you and spend a minute repeating them to yourself with a Smile on your face.

Here are some examples-

I am worthy of success.

I am courageous and I stand up for myself.

I am filled with positive feelings and thoughts.

I am becoming more calm and peaceful day by day.

I am joyfully and peacefully completing everything I need to do.

I always find solutions to any challenges that come up before me.

Learn to Respond rather than React in Haste https://drkarishmaahuja.com/learn-to-respond-rather-than-react-in-haste/ https://drkarishmaahuja.com/learn-to-respond-rather-than-react-in-haste/#respond Fri, 28 Apr 2023 08:43:03 +0000 https://drkarishmaahuja.com/?p=14100 Do you react or do you respond to a situation? Do you know the difference between Reaction v/s Response? Have you ever noticed your behaviour when you are in a problem? Is it reactive or responsive most of the times? The difference between the two could well be the difference between right and wrong, success and failure, happiness and unhappiness. Not only will being responsive make a difference to your overall results, it will also leave you feeling more confident and joyful about your life choices and actions while you are still on your way to your desired goals.

Let’s find out how to overcome this tendency to react in haste-

1. Know the difference between Reaction and Response

Reaction– A reaction is an instant behaviour. It comes immediately based on a person’s emotions and feelings at that particular moment. Since it comes so instantly, it is driven by one’s subconscious mind beliefs and prejudices. When you do or say something without thinking, it’s the subconscious mind controlling you rather than you controlling the situation before you.

When we react very quickly in the moment, we don’t take into consideration long term effects of what we say or do. It’s more like a defence mechanism to just cope with what is being said or done. Thus very often, a reaction is something we regret later especially when we look back at what happened.

Response- A response on the other hand generally comes more slowly. It involves some thinking and reflection. It’s based on information from both the subconscious mind and conscious mind. A response will be more balanced as it takes into consideration the cause and effect of whatever is happening. It weighs the long term effects and stays in line with your core values. Response is thus based equally on both reason and emotions. Such healthy balance between the two allows one to do things that we don’t later regret. Most often than not, we feel happy to have done what we could to handle the situation.

2. Observe your behaviour and results closely

Take a close look at your life, your past reactions and behaviour. Do you regret saying or doing things in impulse? Do you think taking time to respond could have done you more good in your relationships, business and work?

List down all the incidences from your life when you reacted too quickly and acted in haste. Write the outcomes of each of these experiences. As you do, you will realize they did not serve you any good. You will come to understand that most of your impulsive reactions have been unnecessary and sometimes even harmful leaving you bitter and guilty. Starting today, use these words to remind yourself to correct your behaviour in the future. “ Whenever I am too quick to react, I give away my power to whatever it is that I am reacting to, I lose control over what is happening, I allow the situation to overwhelm me, From today I choose to stay in control of myself, I will respond appropriately and act sensibly.”

3. Understand the “Why” in your behaviour

You are aware that you react too quickly and you have also reflected on how that needs to change, that’ good but not enough to bring about change. You need to take it deeper to the question, “Why” you do it. To overcome behaviour that almost runs on autopilot, reflect and understand what’s behind your impulsive reaction and behaviour most of the times. What were/are you feeling most of the times? What do you believe or think about yourself, others and the world in general?

Your thoughts become your reality. Whatever you hold in your mind on a consistent basis is exactly what you will experience in your life. Problems arise because of our tendency to imagine things based on our past experiences. So often our reactions are a result of our anxiety and insecurities.  Write your anxious thoughts down on paper. Writing them down is a powerful way to take away energy from them. Convert each negative thought to a positive statement and repeat them as affirmations to yourself daily.

4. Practice till it becomes a Habit

We have all heard of the phrase, “Practice makes a man perfect.” Like all other things, for success and fulfilment in life too, you have to Practice responding to what is happening around you rather than reacting in haste to situations and challenges thrown at you. This can be done by thinking about what is happening and reflecting on it in Silence.

For example if someone said something that has offended you, responding to this would mean you wonder why he or she said it. Ask yourself questions like, “is it really true?” ”If yes, then maybe doing something about it would help me only in the process” if it’s not true, then why should I feel bad about it, people will always have opinions and judgements, not everybody is going to like me or believe in me, why should I let their comments or remarks lower my morale and spirit?” In such situations, You can then respond thoughtfully by saying, “Well we all have our opinions I understand but i think differently”.

When you think then respond in this manner, you won’t come from a space of anger, rather you will come from a space of confidence. You end up handling the situation very gracefully. You won’t say or do things you will later regret. Most importantly, you will not give away your most precious possession- your peace of mind!

The next time something upsets you, be aware that you have to respond and stay in charge of the situation rather than react and lose control over yourself and the situation.

How To Be More Receptive To Succeed https://drkarishmaahuja.com/how-to-be-more-receptive-to-succeed/ https://drkarishmaahuja.com/how-to-be-more-receptive-to-succeed/#respond Fri, 21 Apr 2023 08:43:14 +0000 https://drkarishmaahuja.com/?p=14078 Most of us would agree, we like being in our comfort zone. Infact it wouldn’t be inappropriate to say that our brains generally crave certainty and routine.  Because certainty gives us the feeling that everything is in order and, therefore all is well. On the other hand, when we are exposed to an environment we are not familiar with, our neural system that processes fear and danger lights up. So although this may sound like something we need to avoid, but actually being open to change is an opportunity for growth and success. Those who resist change generally are affected by it negatively.

Personal growth happens in an environment of curiosity and openness. If you look back at the hard times, they probably were times you surprised yourself with your determination, will, strength and even capabilities. When we are open, we have more understanding and compassion for ourselves and others. Moreover staying open and receptive removes inflexibility, judgment, prejudices and to a great extent ignorance from our minds. We begin to discover more about ourselves and the world around us. Life becomes less restrictive, more enjoyable and exciting.

The following points can help you begin your journey towards becoming more receptive-

1. Remove Distractions

Studies on the mind conclude that humans beings spend nearly 40 to 45 % percent of their waking hours not fully paying attention to what’s happening in front of them and around them. They easily get distracted as a result they become closed and inflexible. Their minds gets disorganized and restless, filled with thoughts scattered here and there.

Studies on Psychology conclude that often times, the reason we lose focus is because we are looking to escape some kind of situation or discomfort such as anxiety or boredom. What we need to however understand is that perhaps the very thing we want to escape is the uncomfortable thing we need to embrace and welcome in order to grow, learn and succeed.

To overcome this challenge, firstly remove whatever is distracting you so you can fully focus on thinking about solutions or whatever it is that you are working on. For example, if you are reading this article, close all other apps and do not check other notifications on your phone for the next few minutes so that you concentrate fully on what you are reading, absorbing and understanding.

2. Train your mind to face the unknown

When it comes to walking into unfamiliar roads, what often holds us back is the fear of failure or the thought that something bad may happen.  We have to thus train our mind to overcome fear and practice pushing ourselves into discomfort even when we feel like taking the easy way out by running back to comfort. It can be a big opportunity in another country that feels unfamiliar and overwhelming so much so that even though it’s a life changing opportunity we are afraid it’s not something we will be able to manage. Or it can be something smaller, like introducing ourselves to someone new at an event or party because we are feeling too shy.

The key is to acknowledge your feelings and observe your urge to avoid something. Then choose to do it anyway because deep down you know that it’s the best thing for you to do. Practice thinking the thought, “What if it all works out well?” Think about a discomforting or challenging situation working out great and then take action with confidence and positivity. Trying new things will help you overcome fear and allow you to expand your mind, creativity, and self confidence.

3. Practice Mindfulness

Practice Sitting in Silence daily. You may focus your attention on a single mantra or any word or phrase that you repeat to yourself over and over again. This allows you to experience the energy of that mantra and to feel the vibrations taking place in your own body. You may also concentrate on an object before you in the silence of your mind and heart. As you do, you realize you have started to go within your own self and consciousness. Your mind and thoughts are disappearing and you are one with that mantra or object. You are in the present moment where there is no bias, judgment, resistance or fear. Everything just IS. The ‘IS’ that is healing, refreshing and simply pure bliss.

You may also focus on your breath as you sit in silence and watch the inhalation and exhalation of your own breath. Since the breath and mind are connected, once your breath gets relaxed, your mind automatically begins to let go of past thoughts of resistance and fear. This proves to be very beneficial for opening doors to receptivity as it slowly releases limiting beliefs and makes space for thoughts that help you move forward and experience new things in life.

4. Look at different Perspectives

The reason why we conform ourselves to same old habits, behaviour and results is that we keep a narrow view and outlook about things. We search for, interpret, favour and remember information in a way that confirms our old beliefs and supports our already strongly held views and opinions. However this is not healthy. If we are to grow, we have to be open to new knowledge, information and even opposing views.

One way to deal with this problem is to constantly look to expand your knowledge base. Actively seek out some credible opposing views. This could mean reading a credible news source you don’t usually read, discussing with others to understand their point of view on something, attending a seminar led by a leading authority to understand the subject more closely rather than being closed and inflexible on your views and opinions about something.  Exploring different points of view may not change your views, but the exposure to different views and ideas could really help you to reason things out well to make more informed decisions and right life choices for success and happiness.

How to Create Strong bonds and Healthy Relationships https://drkarishmaahuja.com/how-to-create-strong-bonds-and-healthy-relationship/ https://drkarishmaahuja.com/how-to-create-strong-bonds-and-healthy-relationship/#respond Sat, 08 Apr 2023 09:44:17 +0000 https://drkarishmaahuja.com/?p=14041 Relationships can be one of the greatest sources of joy in our lives. After all the love, affection and unconditional support that healthy relationships carry cannot be compared to any material object or gain in the world. However, if not handled appropriately, relationships can also be a source of great dissatisfaction and misery in our lives. Strong bonds and meaningful relationships play a big role in helping us maintain a good vibration, thereby helping us attain our goals more joyfully. This is because relationships keep us grounded, peaceful, happy and inspired to pursue our goals and live our best life.

Here are some powerful keys to successful relationships that will help you create more fulfilling connections with your life partner, friends, family members and anyone in your life. In turn, you will see that achieving happiness in this area of your life will bring you success in all other areas of your life too.

1. Be your Authentic self in a relationship

The first key to strong, happy and fulfilling relationships is committing to being who you are and expressing your authentic, real self. Most people put on masks and have different personalities depending on the people they are with and the situations they find themselves in. They become someone they are not, in order to be accepted, liked or even loved. This will not work in the long run and eventually other people will find out the real you. Instead if you be yourself, you can really develop some amazing bonds with people who value you for who you are. Besides, when you are being yourself, you have no pretence. You are relaxed, easy and in the flow which will allow you to develop more meaningful connections and lasting relationships. Remember, when you are happy and being true to yourself, you can more easily make others happy too.

2. Share your feelings

If there is something about another person you dislike, then take the courage to talk to them about it. If you keep the anger or resentment within you, it will only harm your relationship. But ensure when you communicate your feelings, you come from a space of sensitivity and love rather than irritability and blame. Make the other person sit down and speak to them softly and sincerely.

For example, if you find your partner being very critical of some of your habits, instead of always putting up an argument and getting upset or walking away, choose a good time to sit with them and tell them how you feel about it. Let them know that you want them to be less critical and more supportive of you. Also give them a chance to tell you what is going on in their own mind. Most issues can be easily resolved when both partners in a relationship commit to take some sincere efforts for each other in a calm and understanding environment.

3. Spend quality time to strengthen your relationship.

You and your partner or friend’s definition of quality time may be different, but you need to consistently set aside time to connect with each other in the best possible way that helps each of you to build upon your relationship.

It has to start with prioritizing your relationship. Let your partner see your efforts in bonding with them. Try to squeeze some time out you in the day or weekend for them. While talking to them, give them your full, undivided attention. Ensure you are not scrolling on your phone or looking at the Television. Maintaining good eye contact with each other and actively listening and responding to what they are saying is a powerful way to make the other person feel valued and connected to you. Such efforts generate more understanding and compassion in relationships.

4. Learn to be Patient

Whether you are married, in a relationship with someone, or just want to improve your relationships with people overall, one thing essential to add more joy and power into your relationship journey is Patience! The wonderful thing about practicing patience is that when you show more patience and acceptance in a relationship, it also inspires the other person to be more patient and understanding towards you.

Obstacles will come and sometimes they may seem too big to overcome but if you practice patience, continue to persist and not give up on your relationships that really matter to you, you will eventually find a way.  Patience will allow you to come from a sense of clarity that will help you and your partner to overcome challenges and resolve the greatest of problems together.

5. Practice Gratitude

Gratitude is a powerful energy that opens doors to peace and happiness in life. Being Grateful for your relationships even if they don’t seem perfect today is a great way to add positivity to them and to create space for receiving the good that you desire to see in them.

To practice Gratitude on your relationships, every day, write down one thing that you can appreciate and value about this area of your life. Practicing Gratitude in this manner will fill the weak spots with more power and positivity. The most powerful way Gratitude transforms our life is the change that it creates within us. You will observe you complain less and instead value the people around you more.  Soon this transformation within you will attract and inspire more positive behaviour from others around you too. Challenges may still be there but with gratitude they won’t overwhelm or overpower you. Very soon, you will find more peace, calm and love in your relationships.
